first look at our over-plating work

Tedi the 47ft narrow Boat in for full over-plating after 32 years afloat on the
British water ways she was in need of some well earned TLC..!

Here she is fitting snugly in our work shop..!

as you can see shes been Bashed around a little over the  years.!

in this picture you can see the first plates being fitted to are exact markings witch means  all sheets will match up and allow us to make our work just that little bit extra special as who really wants to see there vessel with ruff fitted sheets and unsightly weld lines.!

This picture shows the edge of the plate fully welded to the Hull, this is some thing not many over-platers do as its not time and cost affective, however when seams split this can course you vessel to leak water and in some cases leak into the Hull and sink..!

Again you can see the plates meeting together just the way I like to see them fitted not just welded on where ever they fit..! not bad as I Hand cut each and every sheet to size

As you can now see the top line is completely one from bow to swin and counter wraparound

More seem welds

Wrapping the Bow sheets again a perfect fit make for a perfect Finnish..!

See perfect, we also fit the Bow sheet right up to the lower rubbing striates this allows for an even perfect Finnish we don't cut corners, and Just meet the requirements of the  British safety inspection, we meet our requirements and standards..!

in this picture you can see the swims have been fitted and the counter plates are being fitted our line are so perfect you can only just make out the sheet edges..!

Once the counter plates are in the right place we mark and cut the weed hatch and stern tube post..!

in this picture we are showing the joint where the counter plates are joined together as you can see our cut lines meet up exactly in the right place..!

you can see in this picture the new stern tube fitted. We fit new stern tube always as standard..!
we seal the top so as water cannot be pushed up the tube by the rudder blade when in use it leads to the water to run back down  the original stern tube this will lead to the over-plating to fill with water again leading to possible Hull leaks as I mentioned before we fit these as standard and was not part of the hull safety failures upon inspection

This is how we fit and Finnish off our rubbing straights with a nice hand cut half spear this runs along the top line of the sheets and give that  little special  finishing touch to all our work and hides the over-plating once Blacked..!

onto the back this section its in real need of that TLC touch, I wont bore you with txt on ever picture. in these pictures we remove an re-place the both Diesel tanks, fit new gas lockers (these were fit to the costumers spec) add a bigger battery tray, we fit a higher weed hatch and fit new top boss for new rudder replacement  and re-place the stern gear assembly.
